Easter Egg Crochet Pattern

Easter is riiiiight around the corner, and it’s such a special time for Jess and I, and our families. We have such incredible memories as kids camping every single Easter in a campground here in Alberta called Dinosaur Provincial Park (look it up—it’s stunning!). Our parents would walk out into the hoodoos (very cool rock formations) and hide eggs all over the park, we’d run out with our cousins and friends and look for eggs and eat chocolate all day!

The hoodoos at ‘Dino’ as we affectionately call it in our family.

That’s one of the best parts about Easter is the amazing memories that we can make. Oh, and the delicious food too! There’s nothing quite like digging into a big home cooked meal to make you get into the season. Plus Easter usually signals the very very beginning of Spring here in Canada—there’s ALWAYS more snow still, but the sun is a little bit warmer every day. So, we hope you are able to find joy and celebration at this time too! Whether you celebrate or not, it’s such a lovely time of year and a great time to connect with those around you that you love.

Okay, now on to the pattern! We know you’ve been looking for something cute and quick to fill up those baskets! This super easy (and free!) Easter egg pattern is exactly what you need, and works perfectly for Springtime market prep, too.

This pattern creates the perfect squish, and there are so many colour and yarn weight options so you can make these unique and totally your own. Choose to add a pattern, or make it a solid colour, whatever your heart desires.

These would be perfect little home decor pieces or cute reusable egg hunt eggs for kiddos. Let us know in the comments how else you’d use these cuties!

Happy crocheting fam!

SUPPLIES:

  • Colour A: Size 3 Light Worsted cotton yarn in pink (5yds/18g)

  • Colour B: Size 3 light cotton yarn in purple (5yds/18g)

  • US 2 (2.5mm) crochet hook

  • Stitch marker, or scrap piece of yarn

  • Fibre fill

  • Darning needle

NOTES:

  • I sized down the crochet hook from the US 6 (4mm) hook recommended on the yarn.

  • Different tension may create different results, this pattern is created with a tighter tension.

  • This project should be worked in a continuous spiral. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning and end of each row.

  • You can use any weight of yarn for this pattern, just be sure to adjust to the appropriate hook size and remember the size of your finished product will be different.
